I used to be a florist.
For years and years I “twisted flowers” (as I affectionately call it). I designed bridal bouquets and boutonnieres. Casket sprays and centerpieces. I decorated lovely wedding cakes and pool houses. Flowers. Lots and lots of flowers.
Having since left the flower business for being a Mommy and office work, I have missed it so. I miss the beauty of God’s creation. I miss the feel of the moss in my fingers and constantly having glue stuck to my hands. I miss having that creative outlet to channel my aggression, I mean, artistic expression towards. Designing gets my juices flowing. Because of this fact, as well as the fact that I am looking for a creative and lovely way to contribute to our finances during this time when Stuart’s schooling is our focus, I have started an Etsy store. That’s right – I’m a bon-a-fide entrepreneur! I am pedaling flowers like a little street vendor in an Italian countryside Market. Okay, so maybe I just dreamed that I was pedaling flowers in the Italian countryside, but a girl hasta have dreams, man.
I also dream that I am selling raw milk from my cow, chickens from my eggs, vegetables from my garden, and meat from my steer. As usual, that is not the point of my post.
I just wanted to introduce you to someone. Something, rather.
The Wooden Ladder is my new business, conducted right out of our office on the homestead. I get to fiddle-fart around on arrangements after our little love bug, Georgia, goes to bed. Then, I put them online for the world to see. And judge. Scary! It’s still in it’s baby stages… but I have been working hard to get items put up on there daily. While it’s still a work in progress, I am eager to share my goods with the world and especially with you! Because I am desperate not to become the laughing stock of the floral world, if you have any special needs for silk flowers (wreaths, arrangements, weddings, etc.) please think of me. Email me. Conversation me. Call me. Send me a message via pigeon. Desperate, I tell you.
Because I love, and appreciate, my readers SO MUCH, I have decided to sponsor The Elliott Homestead’s very first giveaway! I am going to be giving away one of my custom designed wreaths to a reader – maybe even you. Booyah. I know, you are so excited right now you are about to wet your pants…aren’t you?
Please meet your prize:
A twelve inch grape vine wreath with orange ranunculus (my favorite flower ever – this was my wedding flower!), maiden hair fern, lotus pods, moss, and hydrangea blossoms. Oooohhh….aaaahhhhh. A wonderful little decoration to get your homestead ready for spring!
