I am bathed. I am cleaned. I am full from a delicious dinner of homemade hummus, fresh veg from the farm, and wild trout Stuart caught in the Delta. I'd say I'm ready for this giveaway – are you?!
For a homesteader, in my personal opinion, this is one of the coolest giveaways. Ever.
Because we all know the nature of homesteads. Especially homesteads with animals.
They involve a lot of…
…well, let's just be frank here. Homesteading involves a lot of poop.
And not only animal poo, but muck. Mud. Dirt. Hay. Compost. Bugs. Rocks.
When I got in contact with Bogs a few weeks back and they offered to sponsor a giveaway for a pair of their luscious boots, I was super excited. These boots are the creme brulee of muck boots, my friends.
When I think of muck boots, I think of those $15 pairs they sell at large Ag Supply stores. The kind that my parents own about 23 pairs of, all lined up in the entry way for a quick slip-on on the way to the barn. Sure, they are very functional. They keep the poop off our pants, which is the general idea I suppose. But anyone who's spent time in those muck boots (and I've spent my fair share in them) knows how desperately uncomfortable they are. It doesn't take long before the dogs are barkin'. Ya know what I mean?
That's what's so great about Bogs. They are padded. They are insulated. They are washable. They are supportive of arches. They are glorious, my friends. Glorious.
I was even able to utilize my pair this fall to keep the danged ‘ol fire ants off me while I was out in the yard. Yep. They even work well for that.
If you want to get technical about their awesomeness, here's a few bullet points I pulled from their website:
– 100% waterproof
– Durable hand-lasted rubber over a four-way stretch inner bootie
– Constructed with 7mm waterproof Neo-Techโข insulation
– NEW Bogs Max-Wickโข moisture-wicking lining to stay dry and comfortable
– Non-marking and self-cleaning outsole
– Aegis antimicrobial odor protection insole
– Easy pull-on handles
– Comfort rated from temperate to -40 F
You can read more on their site
These are the type of boots you'll buy once in your life and wear till you're dead. Those are my favorite types of purchases – a higher quality product that has lasting results. In our disposable culture, I think this is something to be appreciated in an item. Especially on a homestead, where money is usually tight and carefully spent.
But enough jibber-jabber. This is a giveaway, after all! Let's get to it.
Ahem. Ladies and gentlemen, The Elliott Homestead is proud to be giving away 1 pair of Bogs Classic High Boots. Winner can choose from either black or red. I got the red because, obviously, red is a stylish and sexy color. And who doesn't want to feel stylish and sexy when they're trompin' around in the pasture?
To enter:
1. Leave a comment here telling me how much you love trompin' around in the pasture, cleaning out the chicken coop, or muckin' the horse stall. How will the boots be useful to YOU? (Note: click on the title of this post which will take you to the post-page, where you can leave your comment!)
2. ‘Like' The Elliott Homestead on Facebook. If you already do, leave a separate comment letting me know so. If you don't, you should. Because I always have lots of very, very critically important things to say on there. Ahem.
3. ‘Follow' The Elliott Homestead on Pinterest. If you already do, leave a separate comment letting me know so.
4. Subscribe to The Elliott Homestead RSS Feed. If you already do, leave a separate comment letting me know so.
5. Lastly, you can choose one of your favorite posts from The Elliott Homestead archives and share it with a friend, the Pinterest community, your Facebook page, etc. All the archives, popular posts, and most recent posts are located in the right hand column. Leave a separate comment letting me know you've done so. Share the love, man. This is a community!
That's five, count them, FIVE chances to enter, my friends. That increases your chances of winning by like…five times!
And trust me, you'll want to win. You could wear these boots as house slippers, they're so comfortable. And in the middle of the summer down here in LoAl, when palm meadow bugs start invading your house, you may want to wear them around your living room and such. All the easier to smoosh them with. Bleh.
The giveaway will remain open until Sunday, January 20th, with the winner being announced Monday, January 21st.
Good luck!
Madeleine Michel
Oh my! I’ve been wanting Bogs for a couple of years…here in Wisconsin they are great for rain, snow, and surviving the chicken poop in the back yard ๐
April Doiron
Oh mama, I will not currently step foot in my manky mid winter chicken coop lol. I need new boots and more importantly, I need to break away from the 4 year old twins and go put some damn straw out for the lay-deez! New boots would make my job much less lame ๐

I already like your FB page! These boots would go through horse, goat, chicken poop like no one’s business around here! They would start life kicking the hay around to gather up dry segments from what’s on the barn floor to throw in the chicken coop; that is after they slop through the mud from the house to the barn. Then they will be immersed in garden goodness once I start prepping the gardens in the spring.
Kailyn Shippee
Those look awesome! I usually end up slipping on my husbands Bean boots to go mucking and they are about 10 sizes too big, my own pair of muck boots would be magical!

My hubby bought me a pair of bogs for my birthday, then proceeded to wear them all over the farm (yes, we almost wear the same size shoe) and the cute decorations were covered in muck-literally, but they lasted quite some time. They really are great for all of the dirty work that homesteading/farming entails and are even fun for rainy days, regardless of whether you have a farm. Nice giveaway!

I NEED these boots I have worn out my 3rd pair of Mucks and I ‘ve had the low tops mid calfs and knee highs…….I trek out everyday in wet cold and (this winter) rainy Pa to feed our goats and pot bellied pig and all our lovely ladies and gentlemen (hens & roosters) one of my sons swears by his Bogs however I just don’t have the money right now( we recently started making our own chicken feed to make sure we have the happy healthiest hens and that their eggs are SOY free and friend to do that aint cheap) but would love to have a chance to see how they compare to Mucks (which I haven’t had much luck and their just not as pretty when their duct taped)I gave up and threw them away)………anyway I’m shamelessly jumping up and down right now yelling PICK ME! PICK ME! my poor washing machine has seen untold horrors whilst washing the farm off my sneakers……..
Nancy Veasey
Of course I “like” you on FB remember I’m the girl renting the farm to make sure we want to do this the rest of our life 5 years in we’re just waiting for the perfect gentlemans farm(for us) to pop up so yeah Homesteading is what we’re all about ……..which should include Bog Muck boots but like most homesteaders monies tight ……..so yeah again shamelessly PICK ME PICK ME!
Mary Gilbert
It’s interesting…my job (40 hours away from my home) involve my sitting on my tuckus 8 hrs straight, doing emails and other computer type things. honestly (hubby thinks I’m weird) going into the coop and to muck, scrape, shovel, spread, etc is so basic…so human…makes me feel that i am doing something real. It is peace and therapy. My “girls” (and Marty and Frodo my roosters too:) talk to me and show me with their attention that what I’m doing is worth while…THEY appreciate it. I can SEE them…I can’t “see” all those electronic people that my “real” job is involved with…
How would I USE these boots? how would they help me? Well…right now, I have special “chicken” pants and crocs that I use when it’s chicken time. they do “work” but…things get INTO crocs (do i need to say…yuck?) and don’t even ask about my pants when I’m done. the only problem with my current set up…i have to basically STRIP from the waist down before coming into the house! These boot would simply slip OFF on the porch and VIOLA!! Easy peasy…makes it easier to come in and out without worrying about what I’m bringing in with me ๐
Oh…and of COURSE, I liked you on FB quite a while ago…but, I’ll like you again ๐

(We have five children under the age of 12). These boots are gorgeous! Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway! ~~Katie from Brighton park Blog

These boots would be useful to me for tromping around in the wilderness and gardening, and someday in our chicken coop!

AND I totally would love a pair of these for hunting, fishing, cleaning out the coop and basically tromping through the mud with my kids. Or snow. Or rain. Or dry land. Those boots are perfect for EVERYTHING!
