Let's face it, we're weird and we know it. One of us can't put her left shoe on first without crying and the other has a history of rocking pleather pants and platform heels. Guess who?

I need to ask….do people really think that eating together as a family is weird? I have never heard of that..umm…This podcast was fun!

Ya I wondered that to about eating together as a family. It’s definitely normal for us. Also no sports, no TVs…that’s normal for us to but it’s funny to realize how normal it maybe isn’t. I can’t imagine how much stress and pressure that must add to a family to.have each kid in sports. Definitely not for me..plus I suck at every sport you could name haha.

Oh man, I wish that I could be as weird as you two! However, my husband likes things a little more normal. We have to find a balance I guess. Thanks for the podcasts and YouTube videos. I listen/watch them when I need more motivation. Which is all too often these late winter days.

Dear Shaye and Angela,
I really enjoy your podcasts! Maybe you would be surprised to know that your podcast is followed even in Croatia =)
I loved this podcast because you talked about a lifestyle I’m so drawn to. At the moment, I don’t have a family of my own, it’s just me and my bunny in our appartment in Zagreb. But still I want to, and I try to, bring some beauty in here with fresh flowers and decorations that represent what I love. I like cooking nice dishes – in fact yesterday, I made a zucchini frittata and really enjoyed it. If I had an Instagram profile, I would’ve posted it with #homemaker chic tag =) I don’t have a garden, but I have a big balcony where just this week I planted some herbs.
So, while I’m waiting, hoping and praying for my future husband and family, I turn to your channels, blogs and podcasts for inspiration and ideas in raising family and building a happy, warm home. And I hope that one day we will, just like you do, sit together for meals, spend our time in the garden and enjoy our togetherness.
Thank you so much for sharing this inspirational lifestyle of yours! Looking forward to all the new episodes both on your Youtube channels and the podcast!

Hey Angela,
One of the most inspiring lessons on bean making for us has come from the chef of Salt Fat Acid Heat, Samine Nosrat.
I cannot remember the part of the video it is on, but she discusses how to properly and simply soak and cook them, which is never with acid in the beginning. Too much acid in a pot of legumes will keep them from softening. I realized this too late when I could not get a pot of beans to soften, only to learn that the vinegar in had thrown in with the beans to break down antinutrients during their soaking made cooking totally pointless.
Also, old and new beans cook at different rates. Bulk bin beans are a total surprise.

This new podcast is delightful. I spent a happy hour tidying and storing dried cilantro seeds from this year’s garden in preparation for next year’s garden while listening to you two. My oldest is 13 and my youngest is 1 1/2 and we are certainly starting a new phase where established family rules and traditions about things like screen time need to be adjusted.

I felt the same way about the instant pot until… beans!! That is what sold me on keeping it! (My husband was the one who felt it was something we should have)
Then… #2 very helpful thing… when you are busy and forget to pull out a whole chicken in time to defrost… instant pot will cook a whole chicken rock solid frozen in an 1.5hours to a tender chicken! It’s seriously my fast food option!
#3… yogurt!! So cool!!
That’s it! Other than that no need for the thing lol
We also don’t own a microwave! Everyone thinks I’m weird for that!
