That's Leroy. Not Lee-roy.
Okay, so I'm a day late. But none-the-less, please enjoy the following ode to my father.
Shawn Leroy Larson.
That's Leroy. Not Lee-roy. I'm sure he would appreciate you acknowledging that.
My Dad is tall. 6'4" to be exact. He has blond hair and green eyes. Just like me. He is of Norwegian decent, and thus, lacks significant body hair. Just like me (when I finally break down and decide to shave my legs, that is).
My Dad is one of those Dads.
The kind of Dad that coaches your basketball team (even though you are so horrible at playing you shouldn't even be allowed on the court). The kind of Dad that works three jobs when he has to. The Dad who was there in the morning to make you breakfast and there at night to tuck you in.
And, as he would have it, the kind of Dad who hung a machete from the ceiling when high school boys came over to visit his daughters. He told them that he likes to use a knife when he kills teenage boys because he can hear the bones crunch.
Believe me when I tell you that I've seen him make boys cry.
He is also the kind of a Dad that can rock a flat top. Obviously.
My Dad is honest. Strong. Determined. Fun. Goofy. Respectful. Godly.
My Dad is also apparently not a fan of birthday hats. Party pooper.
My Dad is also the kind of Dad that has been exposed to far too much estrogen over the past thirty years (the unavoidable reality after having a wife and three daughters). This estrogen has taken a toll on his body. And though he won't admit this, I've seen him cry because of a t.v. commercial.
Don't tell him I told you. In his defense, it was horrifically sad.
Side note: Brynn, I love how high and tight your pony tail is in this picture!
My Dad isn't afraid to give hugs and a kisses. He tells me he loves me everyday. And thinks my baby is the best thing in this world. Just like me.
He is a faithful husband. An honest government worker (true story!). And a best friend.
But most importantly, he is a follower, and lover, of Christ. And by the grace of God, he has taught me to do the same.
This is also my husband's first Fathers Day. He, too, is a faithful husband, best friend, and follower of Christ. He is not currently, however, a government employee.
Just so we're clear.
Happy Fathers Day to all you wonderful men out there!
