Domestic therapy.

Who needs a therapist?

I've got Jesus and house-work, baby.  I'm good to go.

And though this post may take the feminist movement back a few years, it's truly in serving my home that I am the happiest.  I find joy in clean floors, in packed lunches, and organized bills.  I find joy in folding clean laundry, scrubbing dirty babies with lavender soap, and preparing meals for my dear husband.  Truly.  I ain't even lying.

That being said, I have yet to tell you how much I have enjoyed the newest addition to The Elliott Homestead - my drying rack.

Talk about domestic.

This wonderful rack sees me on good days, and on bad days.  Steadfast and sturdy, it stands there - willingly bearing the weight of one of my utmost important domestic duties - laundry.

Why does this drying rack call to me so?  Does it scratch some inner desire to live life as it was lived back in the day?  Does it purposefully cause me to slow down, take my time, and savor the ordinary task of laundry? I'm not sure - but I love it.  Not only does it save on energy (and thus money!) but it's homey, therapeutic, and built like a tank - just what I need.  And lucky for you, Homestead Drying Racks is giving away one of their Homesteader drying racks (the big guy!).  Visit their blog HERE and enter to win.  Trust me - you want this bad boy.

Currently, I have our drying rack set up in our bedroom - that makes it easy to fold and put away clothes right from the rack.  This rack has been fun addition to our bedroom decor - as it is strewn with colored sweaters and scarves.  Unfortunately, it has also made me realize how un-fun the remainder of our bedroom is.

Isn't it funny how bedrooms are so often neglected because 'no one sees them'?  Yet it's the place where one finds peace and quiet in the still of the night, and the place where one shares intimate time with their spouse, and the place where one keeps their most valued goodies?  Shame on me!

See this duvet?  It's covering the most luscious down comforter - I love our down comforter!  But like most things we own, this duvet cover was a hand-me-down.  And I'm ready for something much more lively!

Something like this:

Does anyone out there have any wonderful bedding recommendations? It's super hard to find unique bedding online.  Anyone?  Anyone?

I'm thinking about turning my home-projects initiative to our bedroom - after all, it is where we spend eight hours each night.  It sure could use a few pick me ups.

But until that time, I will continue to quietly and methodically hang my clothes, appreciating the joy that can be found in such domestic moments.

Hey - at least it's cheaper than therapy.
