Tangled + Georgia = True love.
Do you have a favorite movie?
One that you enjoy watch over and over...and over...and over....
...and over...
(Have I made my point yet?)
Well, Georgia does. And it's Disney's 'Tangled'; the spunky and modern story of Rapunzel.
Every morning, before naptime, she likes to sit and watch part of the movie while she sips on her milk and eats her morning snack (not to be confused with breakfast, or pre-lunch snack). This movie captivates her. I'm not sure if it's the bright colors, hilarious animated characters, or catchy musical numbers, but whatever it is...she's all up in that Tangled business, baby.
Surely, I don't wish my child to spend her entire toddler years glued to the computer screen (no real television = Netflix). I don't want to her avoid reading books or playing in the yard because she's fixated on this movie. But on the flip side, perhaps it's just a time for her to relax, be entertained, and settle down a little. She sits, quiet as a church mouse (besides the occasional shout of excitement), and I have a few moments to prepare lunch, dinner, fold laundry, or sweep the floor.
Is it terrible?
Yes? No? Maybe? Only if it's abused?
Hmm. I think I'll go with "only if it's abused". Because in reality, everyone likes a little down time. And in reality, it gives me a few moments to catch up on things in the home and prepare for our afternoon.
Plus, I'll be honest here.
I find myself enjoying the movie probably more than she does. I laugh. I cry. I sing "Mother Knows Best" and "I've Got A Dream" like nobody's business.
Skip the drama, stay with Mama....Mooooooooother knows best.
If you haven't seen this movie, at least YouTube the songs. They're wonderful!
Okay. So my dirty little secret is out. I. Love. This. Movie. And so does Georgia.
...
So we're going to keep watching it before naptime.
So there.
