Really, there was never any hope of completely escaping it. We're sick. Some of us are handling it better than others, alas, we're here in our little cottage - together - safe and sound while we recover. My children somehow managed to still keep the appetite of race horses, despite the sickness, which means I've had to rally as the homecook and make sure there's something on the table for them to enjoy.

(Truth be told, I also have convinced them to cook a few nights as well. Grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas are their speciality.)

Our bodies often need rich sustenance to aid in its healing. Real food. Shepherd's pie was the perfect comfort food to lean into for us on this cozy, winter night.

Let's make some comfort food.
