Blue & White Prosperity Hens, 45" Strand
Years ago, antiquing through an old market, I discovered a strand of prosperity hens. Without knowing their story, I snatched them up as quick as I could, delighting in their playfulness and handmade aesthetic. Each hen was stitched by hand, highlighted with a sequin, and colorful glass beans spaced them perfectly. What a delight! I quickly hung the hens in my bathroom and each time I wash my hands or shower, they are there to greet me. The hens remind me that life isn’t so serious after all and that there should be moments to delight in the small, simple, and beautiful trappings we’re blessed with. String them up wherever you find tension in your home - perhaps by the kitchen sink or by the bathroom mirror - to remind yourself to be playful, generous, and silly instead. Just like a hen!
Made by a women’s cooperative in Northern India, these blue and white hens are crafted from scraps of fabric - they will brighten and uplift any space. Carefully chosen glass beads and silver ornaments give each strand its own unique beauty. Each strand contains approximately 30 hens, but because they’re handmade, each vary slightly. Ethically sourced and fair trade.
