We've got geese at The Elliott Homestead. So naturally, that means we had to do some research and work on building a goose shelter. Here's our latest video showing us building a goose shelter. It's super quick and easy to do!

So simple! Would this work for ducks?
I am wondering the same thing. I will be getting ducks in April.
It depends on where you live, meaning…how cold does it get where you live? Ducks are okay with above 20 degrees weather, then they can get frostbite (especially their feet). If you are in an area that gets 20 or below, I would be certain to have raised flooring. I put vinyl down, then cover with pine chips (DO NOT use cedar) to absorb when they go potty. Easy to clean out. I also have some of those heaters made for chicken coops. They resemble small flat screen tv’s and are a gentle, non-flammable heat source .
No wonder you love that bakery, they play the Fleet Foxes!
I am thinking of doing this for the family of cats that were born in our drafty tobacco barn! I heard hay can contribute to respiratory problems (In dogs and cats anyway) and one should use straw instead. I don’t know if there is truth in that but it might be something to find out about if it will affect the ducks and geese too. Terrific idea and thank you!
