I thought we could sit down together today and talk about what to do when your sourdough bread is terrible. Yes, I've been there. Yes, there's hope! I asked our YouTube viewers what questions they had for me about making their sourdough bread better and they had lots! We cover sourdough starter, levain, and the actual baking of the bread in this long, conversation-style video.
I hope this answers some of your questions and ultimately leads you to love sourdough even more.

I’ve made your dry starter and sourdough bread and it’s good, but no a lot of flavor.. Do you ever add some salt or herbs to your bread?
Rhandi
Disregard, I forgot to add the salt.
Diane Petersen
What is the oven temp for the sourdough bread?
Jane
What temperature do you bake your sour dough bread at and how long?

Sourdough starters that are over a year old are against the Word of God. In Exodus 12:15a, we read “Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses:” and again in Exodus 12:19a, “Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses:”. So, God tells us to get rid of our starters every year, in the spring…this is for our good. If you follow what God tells us to do, found in the Holy Bible, our lives will be happier (Proverbs 29:18) and healthier (Exodus 23:25)!

I’m not Jewish so I don’t think that applies to me.

YHWH instructed them to remove the leaven out of their houses and that there was to be no leaven found in their houses. He did not instruct them to throw it away, only to remove it for seven days. Blessings

How many qts is the baking pottery that you mix and bake bread in? Thanks, Jan

Love your blog and u tube channel! I watched your video on sourdough troubleshooting, I did not see anything that talked about if it turns Gray in the refrigerator. Do I need to throw it out and start again?

I converted my sourdough starter to your dry version and it is so much easier since I don’t make sourdough every week. I also tried your dutch oven bread from the video, and it was so good. I make a version of it where I bake it in two regular bread pans and it makes wonderful sourdough toast. (It’s better for family members who don’t prefer the thick hard crust of the other style.) Thanks for all the advice.

I’ve watched this awesome video a few times. You referenced a recipe but I can’t find one that matches what you did in the video. They’re all different. Ingredients are different or rising times are different. Can you guide me to the right recipe. My sourdough breads have been bricks and I’m anxious to get one right.
Thank you so much.

So excited. Came out so awesome. I’ve made several bricks in the past. Now I could use a tip on the best way to store it.
