Our latest video is all about Ducklings and our new favorite bread recipe here at The Elliott Homestead.
Y'all probably know by now how much I love making my own bread. In the past, I've written about my traditional soaked wheat bread recipe, my einkorn cornbread recipe, french-style baguettes recipe, einkorn puff pastry recipe, and so many more! Yum.
In the video, I show you how to make our new family favorite: an einkorn maple and walnut bread. Oh my. SO good! Check out the video for the recipe!
Plus, we've got loads and loads of info on chickens, but we've added a new poultry to the farm: ducks! Check out some adorable ducklings in the video, too.
Don't forget: Subscribe to us on YouTube HERE and never miss a new video!

This bread looks really good. I’d try it but I’m a little too poor for maple syrup. I made a similar-ish bread once with molasses and pecans though. Also, what do you use to grind the wheat berries?

Love the ducklings! We have pekin/rouen crosses. SO MUCH FUN. Best birds in the world. Love the quacks, love that they eat the snails so the cattle don’t get liver flukes, and I love how they give me the side eye. Things I’ve learned – high protein is bad for ducks, they grow too fast and get “angel wing” – their wing or wings don’t stay nicely folded on their backs. Doesn’t seem to kill them but it looks funny. Also, until they get their real feathers, which takes a long time for ducks, they sink in water. I’ve lost more than one duckling in the cattle trough. Hopefully you’ll learn from my mistakes! The hens will start laying when they are exactly 6 months old and will lay like clockwork until the following fall.

I love your videos! I look forward to them. Your family is so fun, and REAL. That is what I love most. Keep up the great work. I can wait to try the bread recipe.

HI Shaye and family! Love the ducklings – and I will try the bread recipe -except leaving out the walnuts. I know they are full of goodies – but hubby doesn’t like them. He ONLY like peanuts! God Bless!!

Shaye, why does the post say by Cris Daining?? Have you been hacked?

So when I got my first ducklings they were sexed as well. Get those bands off their legs now, while it’s easy. I was under the delusion the bands would fall off as their legs grew. Not so. Get the bands off now!!!!!

I think I missed the oven temp, cook time and how much sourdough starter and water. It looks amazing an hope to try it tomorrow.
