I’m so jealous! I’ve always wanted one like at my grandmother’s house.
I love this!! I also have space in the cellar to do this. I do, however, want to ask you how you keep out rodents? I could never have bags of grain in mine without the mice attacking it. Even with cats in the house! (They are great mousers, but they aren’t allowed access to the cellar.)
I’m definitely going to start working on our cellar to copy you. I think I’ll have to invest in buckets to store grain tho. Stupid mice. 🙂
Thank you for satiating my curiosity about that gorgeous, tantalizing root cellar! We’re about to start scrubbing and white washing our basement so we can use it to hang my dry cured sausage–it’s getting warmer and they can’t stay on my dining room ceiling forever! Keep up the amazing work!
I have a small basement in my house and I use part of it for food storage. They are about $35 each, but I bought 6 of the large Tupperware storall containers. They are great for pasta, dry beans and other similar items.
Glass quart canning jars are used for sugar and similar items for now. But I plan on getting a vacuum-seal and starting putting my pasta, sugar and other dry goods in bags. Remove most of the air and food lasts longer
I have space but I don’t want to cut from the outside I want to go through the bedroom floor and it will be a project!!!
