Happy Winter, my friends.
We can often think of winter as a baron land that we wander this time of year – separating us from the harvest of fall and the bounty of summer. In reality, winter food – both cooking and eating – provides us homecooks (and home-eaters) with an opportunity to enjoy a category of food that is as exciting and delicious as it’s sunny counterpart.
Roasted meats drizzled in deeply fragrant sauces, tangy fermented foods adding a spark and boost to our palette, soups with slivers of Parmesan cheese dancing in the broth, and spicy, warm custard-like bread pudding being pulled from the oven for breakfast. This food, dare I say, just may be the very best of what the farm offers us.
I hope you enjoy this collection of winter recipes from my very own kitchen. May they warm your bones.
Cheers,
Shaye
